They Got the House—But Had No One Fighting for Them in Escrow

Buying a home is exciting—walking through properties, making an offer, hearing “accepted.” But for many buyers, the real stress doesn’t hit until escrow. That’s when the inspections come in, repairs are on the table, deadlines creep up, and numbers get shuffled around.

I’ve had buyers tell me, “It felt like we were left to figure things out during escrow.” That’s not okay. Escrow is when you need someone in your corner the most. Your agent is your advocate. They should ensure that the terms of sale are fair and that red flags or opportunities for credit or repairs are not missed.

When I work with clients I read the documents line by line, ask tough questions and insist on what is right. I will bring up something that doesn't seem right. I always make sure to take advantage of any room for negotiation.

It's not just about getting your keys, it's also about protecting yourself from unpleasant surprises that may cost you money later. It's not just my job to open the door, but to be on guard from the time the contract is signed to the day of closing.
